Media release: Whiteland Developers breaks ground on 100,000 square foot distribution centre at Centreport Canada

June 15, 2021 – Whiteland Developers (“Whiteland”) has broken ground on a $19M, 100,000 square foot distribution centre in BrookPort Business Park (“BrookPort”) located at CentrePort Canada (“CentrePort”), North America’s largest trimodal inland port. Located on 10 acres, the world’s largest provider of crop inputs and services will occupy the facility following completion of construction in Q4 2021.

“Whiteland is excited to welcome agricultural leader Nutrien into BrookPort Business Park,” said Sam Sidhu, president, Whiteland Developers. “Nutrien has signed a long-term lease for this design-build facility with Whiteland, and we look forward to welcoming them at the end of this year.”

“Phase 1 of Brookport Business Park has created more than 300 new jobs and Nutrien’s facility will further contribute to this employment growth by creating new opportunities for Manitobans,” said Paul Jhand, CEO, Whiteland Developers.

Since fall 2018, Whiteland has brought two fully serviced industrial parks to market at CentrePort: BrookPort Business Park and InksPort Business Park. BrookPort was brought to market in two phases, both of which are fully sold. Thirteen companies, including anchor tenant Merit Functional Foods, are operational or have facilities under construction in the park.

“Congratulations to Sam, Paul and the entire team at Whiteland for their continued success in bringing a major agriculture related development to CentrePort,” said Frances Smee, Reeve, Rural Municipality of Rosser. “Whiteland has been an important partner with the RM of Rosser in developing the Rosser CentrePort lands. We wish them every success in the future.”

“Despite the pandemic, the last year has been incredibly busy for industrial activity at CentrePort,” said Diane Gray, president & CEO, CentrePort. “There are over 2,000 acres in active development within the inland port footprint and more than $220 million in development permits have been issued since 2019. Development shows no signs of slowing down and we are anticipating another busy year for land sale and construction activity.”

CentrePort Canada is Manitoba’s 20,000-acre inland port and Foreign Trade Zone. Located in the heart of North America, CentrePort connects to major national and international trade gateways and corridors, and is the only inland port in Canada with direct access to trimodal transportation – truck, rail and air cargo.
